How much wood could a wood chuck chuck...

While I'm on a roll with the the wooden toys... I just acquired these kick ass toy blocks from miller goodman. The primary colours and clever use of geometry is just the bomb. Look at all the combos!! Each one as an amazing artowrk in it's own right. AWESOME!!

So I got this wooden doll....

If you are familiar with the work of Alexander Girard then you will understand my excitement at acquiring this wooden doll from his series that has recently been made available by Vitra.
I have had my eye on this set of dolls for a long time, and while bringing the whole set home is well out of my budget - for now I have my favourite "No.6".
He came in a gorgeous screen printed and numbered timber box, and he is handpainted. He also came with a beautiful little book outlining the history of the dolls and Girard's career. He is currently living next to my Junzo Terada bear on the mantle piece, and he looks quite at home. STOKED!!

Mini Worlds

Here's a handful of photos I took last night. I had these lovely glass canisters and was playing with the idea of them becoming vessels to house and display seemingly mundane objects. I like how when the objects are placed in the cannister with the lid on, they become sort of glorified in their own way. These are the first exploration of this concept, I'm looking forward to doing some more. The possibilities are pretty exciting. xxx
